Costa Rica is already famous for her ecolodges and yoga retreats, but the Sanctuary at Two Rivers is the ultimate destination for travelers seeking to combine fitness, relaxation and luxury. The Sanctuary was recently mentioned as the “ultimate jungle gym” by Kathryn Branch in The New York Times Style Magazine. The founders are Jeff Gossett and Perrey Reeves, an actress who is perhaps best remembered for playing the spouse of Hollywood agent Ari Gold on HBO’s acclaimed series Entourage.
According to the founders of the solar-powered Sanctuary at Two Rivers, the retreat was built by hand, without heavy construction equipment such as excavators in order to preserve the nature and sanctity of the surrounding environment. The Sanctuary sits on 40 acres of tropical forest near Cabuya, on the lower tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Regular readers of The Costa Rica Star will probably remember that this is one of the world’s fewBlue Zones, where centenarians are far more common than in other regions.
The Sanctuary is clearly off-the-grid, but it is no stranger to luxury. Arrival to the retreat is accomplished on foot, as the nearest parking lot and road are located 15 minutes away from paradise. The property is surrounded by rivers, waterfalls and the Pacific Ocean. The open yoga practice space faces the ocean and provides other spectacular views of Costa Rica.
On its website, the Sanctuary staff offers the following statement:
“If you are looking for a tropical paradise to host a private retreat or family gathering incorporating a true eco-conscious lifestyle, living 100% off-the-grid, sleeping in a modern tree-house, eating organic gourmet vegetarian cuisine, drinking water right from the source, rising with the sun and the howls of Howler Monkeys, not hearing any urban nor suburban noises, all the while infusing yoga, meditation, wellness & spiritual healing, with wildlife & bird watching, you need look no further. The Sanctuary at Two Rivers will rejuvenate your body, tidy up your mind, and boost your spirit.”
