It is very easy to get here with a 25 minute flight from San Jose International Airport to Cobano Airstrip where a taxi will drive you through the famous Nicoya Peninsula Blue Zone to our Yoga Retreat Costa Rica & Yoga Teacher Training Certification Program Center. All guests must arrive at The Sanctuary no later than 4:00 pm on arrival day; please schedule your travel accordingly.

Flying In and Out of Costa Rica
San Jose International Airport (SJO) and Liberia (LIR) are the most convenient airports to The Sanctuary. Frequent international and domestic flights are available at these airports.

For your travel, plan at least two hours between local air and international travel.

By Local Air to Cobano, then by Taxi to The Sanctuary at Two Rivers
The best local airline that offers scheduled flights and charter services to Cobano Airstrip is Sansa. The flight time is 25 minutes. Check for flights on Sansa Airlines at www.flysansa.com or Costa Rica Green Airways (costaricagreenair.com).

Please allow at least 1.5 hours from your International arrival time in order to clear Immigration and Customs and to check-in for the Domestic flight.

By Land to The Sanctuary
An option to flying, we can prearrange land transportation (shuttle bus for a group or private taxi for individuals) from San Jose directly to The Sanctuary via roads and a ferry that crosses Nicoya Bay to the Nicoya Peninsula. This might be economical for a large group and is approx. 5 hours. Prices start at $260.

Individuals can book their own shuttle through Montezuma Expeditions or Tropical Tours for approx. $50. Shuttles leave San Jose early every morning and will bring you directly to The Sanctuary. This is about a 6 hour trip.

We do not recommend renting a car.

Staying the Night in San Jose
Sometimes flight arrival or weather conditions present an opportunity to stay overnight in one of the following places, all within 5 minutes from the airport.

Staying the Night in the Charming Beach Towns of Montezuma or Cabuya
All guests must arrive at the Sanctuary no later than 4:00 pm. If this is not possible due to unpredictable travel and weather conditions, an overnight stay in the charming, neighboring towns of Montezuma or Cabuya are the best options.

The hotels below can also arrange taxi service for their guests arriving in the Tambor Airport and taxi service from their hotel to The Sanctuary.

Calala Beach Lodge $
The beachfront property located in the quiet fishing village of Cabuya in a lush tropical setting. The lodge has one of the biggest pools in the area with an ocean view, and a poolside bar and restaurant with vegetarian options serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a variety of fresh juices, beers, and cocktails.
